Let's go!

It's the 26th, and that means it's my day to be the featured Design Team member on Roc's Blog!

Bunny and (retro 60's) Camper are off on a vacation! Destination unknown. Hopefully someplace cooler than it's been here in Florida! They don't call them the Dog Days of Summer for nothing!

I used Distress Inks to color my background, then used my Arrows stencil  and Splotches stencil for some visual interest. I reversed Bunny so he could pull Camper and used my PrismaColor pencils to color both.Hopefully they will send a postcard when they reach their final destination!

I will be giving this postcard to one lucky commenter from here and my Facebook post. All names will be thrown in the hat together. Just be sure I have a way to get in touch with you if I don't know who you are, please!

CofC3-Week 8

Tim's homework for us for Week 8 was using Distress Differently and Embossing Effects. Again, I can't tell you HOW I achieved my results, but I can show you the finished product!

SDC253-Beach or Sea

Time for a new two week challenge at SDC.

Here's what they had to say about this challenge: "The beach is always such a fun and relaxing place to be. Whether it's sun or just fun in the sand and surf, let's see your best Beach themed projects this week"

I decided to let Flying Pig fly under the water for an adventure! I also used Leaf Border in place of seaweed. I drew the "mask" on Pig's face and added some Glossy Accents to give it dimension. I also hand drew the snorkel. There's some blue Stickles for the air bubbles going up to the top as well! Hope Pig remembers he's a mammal  and has to surface to breathe!

SDC252-Second week of Party!

It's the second week for the SDC challenge.

There is an almost 7 year old boy a few towns south of me that will be celebrating his birthday next month. He has CF and has missed a lot of school and the kids make fun of him because he is sick and can't play much, so one of his family members contacted one of the local news stations and newspaper and a plea has gone out for cards for little Christopher.

So I have made a bird-day card for him. I used a piece of leftover alcohol inked Yupo paper and some other leftover bits that were on my scrap table for my base. Then I used Banner and Birdie Up and colored them with Dyan Reaveley's ink Sprays.

CofC3-Week 7 Alcohol Inks

Our homework for week 7 was to work with Alcohol Inks. I had bought some of Tim's new Yupo "paper" the last time I was at Whim So Doodle and had not had an opportunity to use it. Paper is not a correct term either. It's more like plastic, and the alcohol inks take to it like a fish to water! I really like it. Even better than the glossy cardstock that we used to use!

Of course I can't tell you how I did the technique. You have to take the classes to learn that, and they are well worth the cost. I used one of Tim's newer stamp sets called Lady Rose.

12 tags of 2016-July

Tim did a fabulous remix for the July tag.

First up was the Watercolor Resist and second was layered words. I went with a travel theme again! I used one of Tim's collaborations with Mario Rossi III called Nautical Blueprints and I chose the Seahorse stamp. I followed the directions and layered quite a few yellow tones of Distress Inks to achieve the color on the seahorse. Then I used his word dies and cut out the sentiment.

CofC2-Week 6

For week 6, our homework was to use Layering Stencils. I LOVE my layering stencils! I think I use at least one on every project I do.

For this tag, there are four different stencils. Bricked, Wildflowers, Speckles and Honeycomb. The dragonfly is from the stamp set that I won a couple of months ago on Tim's blog for my tag of the month. I added a bit of Diamond Stickles on the wings and a Chit Chat sticker to complete this tag.

SDC252-PARTY!

The torch has been passed at Stampotique! There are new Design Team members onboard and they are having a PARTY!!

We were to make a party themed project to welcome the new Team members and also a few changes to the challenges. Instead of a weekly challenge, it will now be a fortnight, or every two weeks.

After making a Gelli Plate print for another project, I used a portion of it for my background. Then I gathered some party people, namely Schmurphy, Twinkie and Party Dog and a lone bird from Roc's Bird Border stamp! Party on dudes! Party on! And welcome to the new Design Team!

CofC week 4 challenge

For week 4, Tim assigned homework to the class and we were to use Archival Ink on our project. Of course I can't tell you HOW I did it, but I used Archival Inks on Specialty Stamping Paper. It is "coated" and the Archival ink will not soak in like it would on plain cardstock. (Don't look too closely at the flying upside down birds! Whoops!)

SDC 251-Black and White Only

Nellie is the hostess this week at SDC251.

Here's what she had to say about her challenge:  "I challenge you to use only black and white in your project this week"

Well let's get at it!!

I started with a black tag and applied white Texture Paste thru a Tim Holtz stencil. This stencil is only available when you take a class with Tim, as I did back in March at  Whim So Doodle in St. Pete! I then stamped Bird Lady on a piece of dictionary page along with Polka Dot Dog and Banner. I added both black and white highlights to all three and snuck in some VIVA German Glitter on both Bird Lady and Dog for just a little sparkle! A Tim Holtz Chit Chat sticker and some black and white twine completed my tag.
